MEDINA — Not many people know The Arc of Orleans has an auto detailing shop at Gardner’s CITGO Station in Medina, said Sharyl Thomas, direct support professional in The Arc’s Vocational Department.

“People in the area still don’t know we are here, in spite of the fact we moved in 1998,” Thomas said.

Previously, the service was located at the old armory building on Pearl Street, now the YMCA.

Valerie Riemer from Waterport is a longtime patron of The Arc’s auto detailing business, having had her car cleaned there for many years.

“I think it’s awesome,” Riemer said. “They do a fantastic job. The workers are friendly and go about their work. It’s a great way for me to help out and they in turn help me by providing me with a nice clean car.”

With Thomas supervising, Cindy Dowdall, Joe Battle, Jennifer Tabor and L.I. Jurs are the hard-working individuals served by The Arc who take pride in detailing a customer’s vehicle.

They work on cars, pickups, minivans and conversion vans, Thomas said. They will even do tractors, boats and tractor-trailer cabs.

Auto Detail is open year round from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Calling for an appointment is appreciated. To schedule an appointment or learn more about The Arc, call (585) 589-5516 or visit www.arcoforleans. org.
