BATAVIA — The owner of a car wash and detail center that closed earlier this year says he plans on re-opening and honoring any outstanding gift certificates.
Country Falls Car Wash III closed in January, prompting people to wonder whether gift certificates they purchased would be honored.
“We bought five or six of them for Christmas,” said Marilyn Colantonio of Batavia. “We can’t use them. I’m sure there are many more people out there wondering what’s going to happen.”
Her daughter, June Boyce, said she contacted the number listed for the car wash and got no answer.
“The gift certificates are for $35 or $40 and that’s not a lot of money but I’m sure it is to some people,” she said.
The car wash, at 4017 West Main Street Rd., is owned by Bernard Puzan Jr. of Phoenix.
Puzan said he plans on re-opening, possibly in July.
“I had problems with the people I had running it,” he said when asked why the car wash closed. “My manager was arrested twice for drugs and I had cameras installed so I can watch the other employees and they ripped them out.”
Puzan said he apologizes to the people who have gift certificates but said that they will be able to use them once the business re-opens.
