Enjoy homemade ice cream and support local farmers

Brenda Martin

Hello everyone! I’m Brenda Martin, one of the Wyoming County Alternate Dairy Princesses. I am so excited to be writing my second article.

I hope you all enjoyed your summer. It was so nice getting to see everyone at the Wyoming County Fair, and the New York State Fair.

At the New York State Fair, we had a photo booth set up, and anyone could come over, take four pictures and turn them into a gif, an image file that can be animated.

Everyone that stopped by the booth had an amazing time making their gif. I don’t think there was a single person that left the booth that was not smiling and laughing.

Once everyone made their gifs they were able to post it on their social media with the hashtag milkmovesme, which allowed them to enter into a sweepstakes to win some prizes such as a mini fridge, air pods, milk and so much more.

As summer is winding down, kids and teens are going back to school which means fall sports are starting. Kids and teens like myself who play sports are going to need something to help them get nutrients after a workout.

Instead of having a sports drink, these athletes should try to enjoy a nice cold 8 ounvr glass of low fat chocolate milk. Having chocolate milk after a workout helps athletes to refuel and can help to recover their muscles faster. Unlike sports drinks, chocolate milk has the perfect 3:1 ratio of carbs to proteins, provides the nine essential nutrients and is a good source of high quality proteins, calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

Athletes will feel amazing and will be ready for their next workout in no time.

I hope everyone has a good time in school this year, and I wish good luck to all the athletes. Don’t forget to refuel with your chocolate milk after a game, workout, or another practice. And don’t forget to support your local farmers!
