Ashley Covert of Castile, a 2019 graduate of Letchworth Central School, was recently received the Excellence in Leadership Award at SUNY Cobleskill.
The award recognizes students who demonstrate the positive attributes of student leadership, make meaningful contributions to student life and the campus community, and maintain sustained involvement in campus life through activities, clubs, organizations, service, athletics and/or program development.
Students are nominated by staff, coaches, and other leaders within the college community. Less than 2% of students receive the award.
Covert, who graduated in May, studied agriculture business.
She was captain of the women’s softball team, where she was one of the team’s top hitters. She was named 2021 NAC second-team all-conference and was vice president of the Student Athletics Committee.
In high school, Covert was a two-time Livingston Conference Athletic Association All-Star as a catcher on the Letchworth softball team. She is also a former Wyoming County Dairy Princess.
