Father, daughter bond during outdoor activities

Mike Meyers, 31, and his daughter Oaklyn Meyers, both of Darien Center, are often noticed for their similar looks.

Hundreds of people thought so in selecting the Meyers as winners of the Batavia Daily News “Like Father, Like Son (or Daughter) Look Alike Contest. The Meyers won the contest by receiving 352 votes during the contest, which was conducted on the newspaper’s Facebook page.

Kayleigh Meyer submitted the photograph.

“I wanted to show them both off. We get told all the time they look alike,” said Kayleigh Meyers, Mike’s wife and Oaklyn’s mother. “As her mom, I want to be the one she looks like, but she looks just like her dad.”

Oaklyn, 16 months old, is a friendly little girl who is kind to everyone she meets.

“She doesn’t know a stranger. She says ‘Hi’ to everyone,” said Kayleigh.

Mike and Oaklyn spend a lot of their time together and enjoy doing outdoor activities, including mowing the lawn together.

“They do everything together outdoors. We even built a contraption for her, so she can sit and cut the lawn with Mike,” said Kayleigh.

The submitted photo of Mike and Oaklyn, taken at their home in Darien Center, was taken by Kayleigh who wanted to capture a moment the two shared together.

“He works very hard to try to keep her happy,” said Kayleigh. “He’s a great father.”
