Batavia woman graduates from Canisius
Alexis J. Hoerner of Batavia recently graduated summa cum laude from Canisius College with a bachelor of arts degree in communications studies. She also minored in studio arts.
Alexis, who graduated with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.83, was selected by faculty and fellow scholars for membership in Lambda Pi Eta of the National Communication Association Honor Society. As a student at Canisius, Alexis was a recipient of a Dean’s Academic Scholarship, the Studio Art Scholarship and the Canisius Endowed Scholarship.
The commencement ceremony will take place in the spring of 2021.
Alexis, the daughter of Karen Cutitta Gayton and Michael T. Hoerner, has accepted a position as a customer service representative for Geico in Getzville.
SUNY Morrisville recognizes area students
Three area students were recently named to the fall 2020 President’s List at SUNY Morrisville, while other local students made the Dean’s List.
The President’s List recognizes those student who achieve a perfect 4.0 average for the semester while completing 12 credit hours. Local students honored were:
n Kalem DeGolyer of Castile, an agricultural engineering major;
n Emily Mikel of Stafford, a dairy management major; and
n Liam Pankow of Castile, majoring in web development and management.
Named to the Dean’s List were:
n Nickkayla Aldrich of Albion, majoring in individual studies;
n Jason Doemling of Le Roy, automotive management;
n Jamie Krenzer of Bliss, agricultural science;

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a 3.0 to 3.99 grade-point average for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.
Named to Dean’s List at Le Moyne
Katelyn Corp, a senior chemistry major from Wyoming, has been named to the Le Moyne College Fall 2020 Dean’s List.
To make the list, students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above.
Achieves at Pitt-Bradford
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has named 420 students to its fall 2020 Dean’s list. Those students include sophomore Sarah O. Newland, a business management student from Arcade.
Dean’s list status is awarded to students who have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Named to Dean’s List at SUNY Delhi
Kaylee Willmart of Portageville has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2020 semester at SUNY Delhi.
Kaylee is pursuing a degree in liberal arts & sciences: general studies at the college.
The dean’s list recognizes students who enrolled in six or more credits and earned a 3.5 or higher grade-point average for the semester.
2 earn degrees from WGU
Two area residents have earned degrees from Western Governors University.
Mackenzie DeCarlo of Batavia received a bachelor’s degree in nursing, while Michele Needle of Dale earned a master’s degree in management and leadership.
WGU, based in Salt Lake City, is an online, nonprofit university founded in 1997.
Quartz earns Dean’s Award
Olivia Quartz, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2022, has earned the fall 2020 Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.
Quartz is a geology major and a graduate of Letchworth Central School, from Perry.
Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses earn the fall 2020 Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.
