A Mercy Flight helicopter is seen at a landing zone near Byron-Bergen High School early Saturday morning after being called to the area following a rollover accident on West Bergen Road about 5 a.m. in which one person was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

BERGEN — An Albion teenager was pinned under a car after she was ejected when the car slammed into a tree early this morning.

Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said Sierra R. Kast, 17, of Albion was driving a 2008 Ford south on West Bergen Road about 5 a.m. when she fell asleep.

The car went off the west side of the road, hit a concrete culvert and continued back onto the road.

Kast tried to straighten the car but it went off the road again, overturning and slamming into a tree, deputies said.

A backseat passenger, Arianna N. McGurn, 17, of Albion was ejected into a ditch, with the car hanging over her.

Bergen, Byron and Churchville firefighters were able to free McGurn, who was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital with leg and other injuries, believed to be non-life threatening.

Kast was taken by ambulance to Strong with less serious injuries.

Two passengers, ages 15 and 17, also were in the car and were treated at the scene and released.

Deputies said charges are pending against the driver. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors.
