A 45-year-old man suffered serious injuries after crashing his ATV into a parked car on Route 262 in Oakfield Wednesday night.

OAKFIELD — A male all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rider was flown by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo Wednesday night after the ATV struck a parked car in the driveway at 22 Drake Street Rd.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Andrew Hale said the man appeared to be seriously injured. Hale said the accident is under investigation.

No one was in the parked car when it was hit and pushed onto the lawn.

Hale said deputies were trying to find out why the ATV rider left the road and what the direction of travel was.

“He had to be going a decent speed to push that car,” he said at the scene.

The call came in around 10:20 p.m., Hale said.

Oakfield Fire Department Third Assistant Chief Pete Schreiber said the man suffered injuries to his legs, mainly his right leg, and abdominal and chest injuries, and was in critical condition.

Responding to the scene were the county Sheriff’s Office, Oakfield Fire Department, county Office of Emergency Management, Mercy Flight ground crew and helicopter.
