Ellicott Station project set to begin October 15

After waiting a long time, Oct. 15 will be the start of site work at Ellicott Station, developer Sam Savarino says.

BATAVIA — The developer of a $22.4 million residential and retail project says construction and remediation at the site will start this fall after the state Office of Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) closes on financing.

“Yesterday (Thursday), we heard from HCR. The board met and they set a closing date for it. That’s Oct. 15,” said Sam Savarino, president and chief executive officer of Savarino Companies. “That’s the final thing that needs to be done and I can start that day as soon as they close.
