MEDINA – Orleans Community Health has named Marc Shurtz interim chief executive office and chief financial officer.
Shurtz fills the role following the departure of Mark Cye to Warren (Pa.) General Hospital where he was hired as the facility’s chief financial officer.
Shurtz has been chief information officer and corporate compliance officer at Orleans Community Health since 2014. He has 20 years of management experience in the military, legal and healthcare fields.
Shurtz, who grew up in Michigan, spent 13 years in the Navy before moving to the Western New York area. He worked for more than 10 years for a large Buffalo law firm before coming to Orleans Community Health.
Cye said at the time his resignation was announced that he was looking to move to a bigger facility as a chief financial officer. Warren General Hospital is an 89-bed facility affiliated with Pittsburgh, Pa.-based Allegheny Health Network and Erie, Pa.-based Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Health.
Cye’s resignation was effective July 28. Shurtz took the interim role on July 29.
Cye had been CEO of Orleans Community Health since January 2018.
, first in an interim role following the resignation of Wendy Jacobson, and then in a permanent role since April 2018. He had been CFO before becoming interim CEO and remained in both positions.
Orleans Community Health serves Orleans, eastern Niagara and northern Genesee counties. The organization includes Medina Memorial Hospital, a designated Critical Access Hospital; renal dialysis centers in Medina and Batavia, a primary and walk-in clinic in Albion, a 30-bed skilled nursing home, outpatient and ambulatory services, and a Community Partners Wellness Center, which provides a variety of health and wellness programs.
