MEDINA — The Sandstone Trust of Medina has grant opportunities now available.

The community endowment program will make several thousand dollars available in December, grants ranging from $200 to $500, awarded to qualifying non-profit organizations and/or projects in the Medina, Shelby or Ridgeway region. Funding is intended for purposes which benefit the community and are 501(c)3.

“We try to steer our distribution and grants more toward concrete or brick and mortar type projects as opposed to program expenses,” said Michael Zelazny, CPA. “Although we will give grants toward program expenses if we feel it’s warranted.”

For example, Zelazny said a couple churches in the area are sandstone in construction, and may have had issues with their steps or issues with their foundation. The Sandstone Trust has assisted in funding those. He said uses are wide and varied for the funding.
