Castile man accused of scanner theft
LEICESTER — A Wyoming County man is facing a felony grand larceny charge for allegedly stealing a piece of automotive equipment, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Thomas A. Barnhardt, 60, of Castile, is accused of taking an electronic automotive scanner valued at about $2,500 from a New Road business, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation began Sept. 2 when the Sheriff’s Office responded to the business.
Barnhardt was arrested Dec. 7 by Sheriff’s Investigator Josh Monster and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E felony.
Barnhardt was turned over to Central Booking deputies at Livingston County Jail for processing and issued an appearance ticket for a future date in Leicester Town Court. The offense did not qualify for pre-arraignment detention or for bail to be set under the state Justice Reform Act.
