BATAVIA — The public may get free masks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Thursday at the city of Batavia Fire Department, 18 Evans St., and Saturday at the city Police Department, 10 W. Main St.

The Genesee County Office of Emergency Management is providing masks and hand sanitizer at both locations. Anyone wishing to receive a mask is asked to follow the drive-thru map instructions for each location and stay inside his or her vehicle.

“The Genesee County Office of Emergency Management has procured 1,000 masks and 1,000 2-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer at these drive-up locations,” said Assistant City Manager Rachael Tabelski.

Those who go to the city Fire Department should drive along the side of the building toward the back, where they will get their items. They then drive around the building and Falleti Ice Arena and back onto Evans Street. At the city Police Department, drivers enter off of Jefferson Avenue, get their items behind the police station and exit onto Main Street.
