PERRY — Perry and surrounding communities will be looking for a different way to celebrate New Year’s Eve, Last Night Perry organizers said Monday.

After 22 years of offering a safe, fun, alcohol-free, family-oriented New Year’s Eve celebration, the event will not be held due to the challenges of the novel corona virus.

“We are thankful for the decades of support from our community, from our volunteers and from our sponsors and ask our patrons to recognize that challenges that hosting a disease in a pandemic presents,” said organizer Meghan Hauser in a news release. “We will especially miss ringing in the new year with the generations of families that have made Last Night Perry their go-to New Year’s Eve event.”
