The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory that will be in effect from midnight tonight to 9 a.m. Saturday.

The advisory includes Genesee, Livingston and Orleans counties. Also included are Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, northern Cayuga and Oswego counties.

Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, the Weather Service advises.

Wyoming County has not been included in the advisory though the Weather Service forecast calls for patchy frost between 11 tonight and 3 a.m. Saturday with a low temperature around 32 degrees.

A frost advisory has also been issued for Chautauqua and southern Erie counties.

A frost advisory is issued when the minimum temperature is forecast to be 33 to 36 degrees on clear and calm nights during the growing season, according to the Weather Service
