WARSAW — Damages were estimated at about $50,000 after a Friday evening fire at an apartment house, Wyoming County Emergency Services officials said.
The fire was reported 6:24 p.m. at a house owned by Ed Schoff on 183 South Main St. The lower front apartment sustained heavy fire damage, while two other apartments experienced heavy smoke damage.
Firefighters were at the scene for six and a half hours. One firefighter suffered a hand injury and was treated at the scene.
The fire’s cause remains under investigation. Three people who lived in the apartments are staying with family and friends.
Firefighters from Warsaw, Perry, Silver Springs, Perry Center, Wyoming and Castile responded to the scene. Units from Pavilion were on standby.
County Emergency Management and sheriff’s personnel were also at the scene, along with village police, state police, Monroe Ambulance and New York State Electric and Gas.
