BATAVIA — Kaitlin, Dan, Stephen, Melinda, Paula and Cortney have tickets to Saturday’s Buffalo Bills playoff game.

The selection of the six recipients was announced today by Batavia Downs Gaming President and CEO Henry Wojtaszek in a press release. They will watch the 1 p.m. game against the Indianapolis Colts from the Batavia Downs Gaming Suite at New Era Field.

After receiving hundreds of nominations of healthcare workers and first responders, six people were chosen and contacted by Batavia Downs. Kaitlin is from Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, Dan from Rochester General, Stephen from the Buffalo Medical Group, Melinda from Rochester Regional Health, Paula from Buffalo General and Cortney from ECMC. Batavia Downs did not give the ticket recipients’ last names.

“First, we want to thank to all the wonderful people who emailed us to nominate someone that they felt deserved the tickets to next weekend’s playoff game,” said Wojtaszek. “The stories sent to us were incredible. There are so many heroes out there working hard for our communities.”

Kaitlin said, “I was so excited to receive the phone call-still in shock I get to go! So thankful for Batavia Downs to recognize health care workers and thankful to represent ECMC.”

Batavia Downs Director of Marketing Ryan Hasenauer said, “We’re so excited to welcome these folks into our suite for the game.Their stories were truly inspiring and we are grateful to be able to extend this offer to these worthy recipients.”
