BATAVIA — Law enforcement agencies in Genesee and Orleans counties will be participating in a Thanksgiving DWI crackdown.

The crackdown will take place today to Monday.

Since Thanksgiving Eve is one of the biggest drinking nights of the year, it is vital that law enforcement presence be at its peak on this night as a reminder to have a Sober Plan while traveling, the police agencies said in a news release. Although STOP-DWI efforts have led to significant reductions in the numbers of alcohol related fatalities, they said, there are still too many lives lost due to DWI crashes.
