BATAVIA — A wanted sex offender was taken into custody Thursday morning after a traffic stop at the Thruway interchange, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said.
Chad S. Williams, 49, of Infinity Lane in Rochester was stopped at 11:13 a.m. for a traffic violation, deputies said. He allegedly tried to assume another person’s identity in order to hide the fact his drivers license was suspended.
Once deputies determined Williams’ real identity, he was also allegedly found to be a parole absconder wanted by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Williams was charged with violating the state Sex Offender Registry as a parole absconder. He was turned over to the DOCCS.
More charges are pending.
State records show Williams is a Level 3 sex offender. He was convicted in 2001 for two counts of second-degree rape for having sex with a 14-year-old female victim in Rochester.
He was sentenced to 42 months to seven years in prison.
