New restaurant takes root in Avon

Livingston County Chamber of Commerce PhotographAlong with her brother in law, who is also her business partner, Kaylie Sturnick, left, and Matthew Cobb cut the ribbon to open the Root & Roost in Avon. The restaurant hopes to offer a not only a higher quality of food by also a healthier option for people who stop in.

AVON – A new place to eat in Avon is hoping to offer something a little bit different to people.

“Our breakfast sandwiches and coffee are just elevated but still affordable and just as convenient,” said Kaylie Sturnick, who with her brother-in-law recently opened Route & Roost.

The restaurant is at 6105 East Avon Lima Rd.

Sturnick said the restaurant is not a diner but more of a cafe-style eatery.

“It is a grab-and-go and people will be able to confidently pick up a healthier version of what you might go to for Dunkin or Tim Horton’s or something like that, we want to be everyone’s new Dunkin,” said Sturnick.

Route & Roost is a breakfast and lunch cafe with a focus on making clean food readily available to the community, at an affordable price. Their core concept revolves around taste, nutrition, community and family.

The menu includes such items as biscuits and gravy, french toast, a breakfast plate and for lunch there is everything from a grilled chicken sandwich to a new England shrimp roll.

“That is the void that we are trying to fill here, healthy quality food that you can not get anyplace else. Nothing comes out of a jar here, everything is made from scratch. It is all home made, it all starts with the ingredients and then everything just comes together with a perfect blend of flavors,” said Sturnick.

The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Sturnick hopes to add weekend hours in the future.

Sturnick said she hopes more people will stop in to grab a delicious meal that is not only healthy but also affordable too.

“You don’t even know that you are eating healthy when you are eating here,” she said, “but you are because the food just tastes so good.”
