BATAVIA — An investigation into an “unknown problem” at a Maple Street residence led to charges against a man for repeatedly sexually assaulting a child, city police said.
Police were called to 6 Maple St. the afternoon of May 1 to investigate a complaint.
An investigation led to charges against Nelson E. Figueroa Jr., 31, of Maple Street.
Figueroa was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, a class AII felony punishable by up to 25 years to life in prison.
He also was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree criminal sexual act. The child, police said, is under 13.
Figueroa was arraigned and committed to Genesee County Jail without bail.
He is to appear June 4 in City Court.
