City PD investigating pedestrian accident as a criminal matter

BATAVIA — An incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle is being investigated as a criminal matter, city police said.

The victim was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night at 15 Highland Park, city police said. The person was treated at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and released.

Police responded at 8:54 p.m. for a report of a vehicle that had backed into a house. They found the vehicle and the person who had been struck.

Police said there was no threat to the public. No more information could be released as of Thursday evening because of the ongoing investigation, and officers are pursuing several leads.
