BATAVIA — A city man serving time for sex abuse has now been charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child.
Wesley N. Thigpen, 40, was charged Aug. 24 after an investigation, city police said. He allegedly engaged in a pattern of sex abuse involving two children less than 13 years old.
The incidents allegedly occurred at multiple locations between 2007 and 2016 in the city.
Thigpen has a history of arrests in Genesee County.
He is currently serving three to four years in prison after pleading guilty in 2019 to first-degree sex abuse and first-degree criminal contempt, for an incident dating back to December 2018.
Thigpen’s plea at the time was on an Alford basis. That means he did not have to admit to the allegations but acknowledged that he likely would be found guilty if the case went to trial.
Thigpen is currently an inmate at Greene Correctional Facility. He was returned to Genesee County for arraignment and held with no bail.
