UTICA — A Le Roy man faces numerous charges after an investigation revealed he repeatedly sexually assaulted “several” children in Oneida County, state police said.
Ryan F. Rios, 34, formerly of Utica, was arrested Nov. 17 on a grand jury indictment warrant.
The investigation began in November 2019 after complaints that Rios assaulted several girls under the age of 17.
Investigators found that Rios assaulted the girls in Utica, New York Mills and the village of New Hartford between June 2011 and the winter of 2018.
The case was turned over to Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, where it was presented to a grand jury in October.
The grand jury filed 13 charges against Rios: Predatory sexual assault, first-degree rape, two counts of aggravated third-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree rape, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of harassment.
The predatory sexual assault charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
A warrant was issued for Rios after the grand jury indictment. He was arrested and committed to Oneida County Jail after his arraignment in County Court.
