YORKSHIRE — A Hamburg man faces charges after he led police on a chase through three counties Monday, Cattaraugus County sheriff’s officials said.
Michael R. Newman, 36, was stopped on McKinstry Road in Yorkshire for traffic violations but he drove off. Deputies said he led police on a chase through Cattaraugus, Wyoming and into Erie County, where he was taken into custody in East Aurora.
He was charged in Cattaraugus with unlawful fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operation, reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to obey a traffic device, using a cell phone while driving, unsafe lane change, failure to keep right and speeding.
He may face charges in Wyoming and Erie counties.
