BATAVIA — A Stafford man has been arrested and charged with raping a child 21 years ago, city of Batavia police detectives said.
Roger K. Brinkman, 57, of Main Road was charged Tuesday with four counts of first-degree rape, a class B violent felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Detective Sgt. Matt Lutey said Brinkman is accused of repeatedly raping a child under 15 years old during July 2000.
The case was investigated by Detective Matthew Wojtaszczyk after the victim reported the alleged rapes to police.
Brinkman was acquainted with the victim, Lutey said.
Brinkman was arraigned in City Court and committed to Genesee County Jail without bail.
Brinkman in May was arrested by Genesee County sheriff’s deputies after an investigation into a property dispute in Oakfield.
Brinkman was charged with menacing for allegedly threatening people with a knife during a dispute about an air conditioner.
