BATAVIA — A North Spruce Street man with a history of domestic violence was jailed after he allegedly choked and beat a woman at his apartment in April, city police said.
Jeffery M. Johnson, 32, formerly of Oakfield, caused serious physical injuries to the woman during the April 29 attack.
Police were called to 219 North Spruce about 8:30 in the morning.
Johnson is accused of choking the woman, assaulting her and threatening her with a weapon, all in front of a child.
He was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon because of a previous felony conviction, second-degree menacing with a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned via Skype and committed to Genesee County Jail, with bail set at $10,000.
