Man jailed after domestic violence

MIDDLEBURY — A Middlebury man was jailed after an investigation into a domestic violence complaint, Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies said.

Timothy T. Coney, 42, was charged with felony criminal contempt of court, harassment, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of criminal mischief.

The charges came after deputies were called to a house on Route 19 on March 8. Coney is accused of having “a physical and verbal altercation with an intimate partner” with a child present. He damaged a cell phone in an attempt to prevent the victim from contacting police.

He was committed to Wyoming County Jail, where officers found that he had two sealed Suboxone packages in his wallet. He was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and seconddegree promoting prison contraband.

Coney was arraigned in Town Court and committed to jail with bail set at $10,000.

An order of protection was issued for the victim.
