VARYSBURG — An investigation into a report that a man was unconscious in his running car at Dollar General last month has led to felony drug charges, Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies were called to Dollar General about 7 p.m. Feb. 27.
The caller said that a man was inside his car, with the door open, and was unresponsive. Several attempts to wake the man were not successful.
Deputies arrived and found the 2013 Ford Focus backed up against the store, with the driver’s door open.
The driver, Jaron R. Cameron, 28, of Laurens, Ostego County was lying in the driver’s seat with the engine running. Deputies tried several times to wake him and Cameron finally awakened.
Deputies saw drug paraphernalia in the car and Cameron failed road sobriety tests and was taken to Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department.
A drug recognition expert determined he was under the influence of multiple drugs.
Deputies also seized suspected cocaine, crystal meth, LSD and concentrated cannabis wax, along with items “consistent with drug sales.”
Cameron was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, fifth-degree criminal possession, three counts of seventh-degree possession, driving while impaired by drugs and by a combination of drugs.
He is to appear at a later date in Town Court.
