Reckless driving blamed for crash

WARSAW — A Buffalo man faces felony charges after he was found to be high on drugs while driving with children in the car Thursday, Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies said.

Sgt. Colin Reagan was on patrol when he stopped a car on Route 19 at Martinville Road. The car was stopped for speeding on South Main Street in the village.

Reagan said he smelled marijuana emanating from the car and found “multiple partially burned marijuana cigars” inside the car.

Two children, 1 and 6, were in the car with two adults and the 6-year-old was not in a required booster seat, Reagan said.

The driver, Andreus Johnson, 21, was taken to Arcade Police Department, where a drug recognition expert determined his ability was impaired by drugs.

Johnson was charged with two counts of aggravated DWI with children in the car, driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, speeding and improper restraint for a child.

Johnson was released and is to appear at a later date in Town Court.
