Sex assault suspect faces new charges

CASTILE — More charges have been filed against a Castile man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a child during a nine-year period.

Roger L. Ballard Jr., 27, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexually assaulting a child under the age of 11, state police said.

Ballard was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and committed to the Wyoming County Jail.

Troopers said the arrest came after an investigation into a complaint filed May 19.

The complaint was filed less than two weeks after Ballard was arraigned in Wyoming County Court on an indictment charging him with two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child.

Those charges are punishable by up to life in prison. Ballard is accused of repeatedly assaulting a child from 2011 to 2019.
