Woman approaches deputy, gets DWI charge

ARCADE — A three-time convicted felon was jailed after he allegedly threatened his estranged wife with a knife in front of their children Sunday, Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies were called to Arcade Valley Estates for a report of a man with a knife. State police and Arcade officers also went to the residence.

An investigation led to charges against Stephen J. Verstreate, 27, of Sodus.

He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.

Verstreate, who served a state prison term for possessing a weapon as a felon, was committed to Wyoming County Jail without bail.

His wife, Lacritia K. Versreate, 22, of Seneca Falls, was charged with criminal contempt of court and endangering the welfare of a child.

She allegedly pushed Verstreate in front of three children.

She was committed to jail with bail set at $5,000.
