Rochester man accused of dirt bike theft

BATAVIA — A report of a stolen dirt bike from a location on Clinton Street Road in Bergen Tuesday led to the arrest of a Rochester man who was found in the city, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said.

The theft happened just before 5 p.m. A description was given to deputies, who were able to locate the alleged thief at a residence on South Main Street nearly two hours later.

Shane C. Bunce, 38, of Chili Avenue was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Bunch is to appear Oct. 20 in City Court and Oct. 14 in Bergen Town Court.

Reports that the dirt bike was stolen by force from a juvenile were not true, police said.
