WARSAW — A registered sex offender told investigators that he was “on vacation” for five months in Florida and didn’t believe he had to tell authorities his whereabouts.
Jonathan Dale, 40, of Warsaw was charged with failure to change his address as a registered sex offender, Wyoming County sheriff’s investigators said.
Dale had been last registered as living in Castile and is now registered in Warsaw.
But, police said, for five months he lived in Florida without notifying authorities in New York or Florida, violations of the state sex offender registries.
Dale is a Level 2 offender on the New York state registry.
He was convicted in 2003 of third-degree rape for having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl. Dale was 23 at the time.
