Active COVID-19 cases decrease in GLOW region

BATAVIA — Six COVID-19 related deaths were reported over the previous two weeks in Genesee County.

The county is now reporting a total of 132 deaths. There has been a total of 332 total deaths related to COVID-19 in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

The number of active cases in Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties has simultaneously increased. A total of 321 active cases were reported Tuesday in the three counties, compared to active 269 cases as of last Thursday. Livingston County updates its data on Fridays.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the data:

n Genesee County — From Thursday to Wednesday, Genesee County is reporting 109 new positive cases for a total of 5,934, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 138 active cases were reported, compared to 85 on Thursday.

There are 48 new recoveries for a total of 5,191.

Genesee County reports a total of 132 deaths — the Genesee County Health Department reported the loss of six community members over the past couple of weeks.

A total of 32,041 people, or 55.7 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Wednesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 29,661.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 8.09 percent.

n Orleans County — From Thursday to Wednesday, Orleans County is reporting 103 new cases for a total of 3,637 positive cases.

A total of 118 active cases were reported, compared to 119 on Thursday.

There are 81 new recoveries for a total of 3,099. Orleans County has 83 total deaths.

A total of 20,553 people, or 50.6 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Wednesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,981.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 8.36 percent.

n Wyoming County — Sixty-five active cases were reported Wednesday, representing no change from this past Thursday. A total of 3,013 cases since the pandemic began, according to county data.

The number of recoveries is 2,894. There are 54 deaths.

A total of 19,994 people, or 49.9 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Wednesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,535.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 5.1 percent.

n Livingston County — As of Friday, Livingston County had 98 active cases, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 5,287 cases had been reported since the pandemic began, along with 5,141 recoveries. There have been 63 deaths.

A total of 35,342 people, or 55.9 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Wednesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 33,223.

A total of 63.8 percent of the county’s population of those at least 18 years old had been vaccinated.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 5.4 percent.
