Active COVID-19 cases decrease in GLOW region

ALBION — Active COVID-19 cases in Orleans County have decreased significantly over the past week.

A total of 59 active cases were reported as of Tuesday, according to the Genesee and Orleans counties COVID dashboard. That compares to 96 active case on Thursday.

Active cases in Genesee County likewise decreased from 70 to 53 since Thursday, while the number in Wyoming County remained stable at 26.

Livingston County last updated its numbers on Friday. Here’s a county-by-county look at the data:

n Genesee County — From Thursday to Tuesday, Genesee County is reporting 48 new positive cases for a total of 5,696.

The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Sixteen of the 53 current active cases are hospitalized.

There are 64 new recoveries for a total of 5,049.

Genesee County reports a total of 125 deaths — an addition of one county resident over the age of 65.

A total of 31,464 people, or 54.7 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 29,036.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 4.2 percent.

n Orleans County — From Thursday to Tuesday, Orleans County is reporting 28 new cases for a total of 3,392 positive cases.

The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Two of the 59 current active cases are hospitalized.

There are 65 new recoveries for a total of 2,937. Orleans County has 83 total deaths.

A total of 20,065 people, or 49.4 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,594.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 7.6 percent.

n Wyoming County — Twenty-six active cases were reported, with a total of 2,888 cases since the pandemic began, according to county data.

The number of recoveries is 2,882. There are 54 deaths.

A total of 19,664 people, or 49.1 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 18,230.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 3.7 percent.

n Livingston County — As of Friday, Livingston County had 110 active cases, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 5,069 cases had been reported since the pandemic began, along with 4,192 recoveries.

A total of 34,763 people, or 55 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 32,677.

A total of 62.8 percent of the county’s population of those at least 18 years old had been vaccinated.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 7.3 percent
