Active COVID-19 cases decrease in GLOW region

BATAVIA — Genesee County numbers drove an increase in active COVID-19 numbers on Tuesday.

A total of 539 active cases were reported Tuesday in Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties, according to the county health departments. That compares to 501 active cases this past Thursday, and 414 such cases on Oct. 4.

But the most recent increase came entirely from Genesee County.

Genesee County reported 249 active cases, compared to 206 active cases on Thursday.

Wyoming County remained unchanged at 78 cases, while Orleans County reported 212 active cases, compared to 217 on Thursday.

The area’s overall active COVID-19 cases were 644 when Livingston County is included. The county reported 105 active cases on Tuesday, compared to 89 on Friday.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the most recent data:

n Genesee County — From Thursday to Tuesday, Genesee County reported 150 new positive cases for a total of 6,585, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard. The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. Ten of 249 active cases are hospitalized.

There are 99 new recoveries for a total of 5,722.

Genesee County has reported a total of 132 deaths.

A total of 32,798 people, or 57.0 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 30,410.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 10.03 percent.

n Orleans County — From Thursday to Tuesday, Orleans County reported 121 new cases for a total of 4,186 positive cases. The individuals are under the age of 20 and in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Of the 212 active cases, four are hospitalized.

There are 122 new recoveries for a total of 3,541. Orleans County has had 86 total deaths.

A total of 21,287 people, or 52.4 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 19,607.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 11.88 percent.

n Wyoming County — Seventy-eight active cases were reported Thursday for a total of 3,292 cases since the pandemic began, according to county data.

The number of recoveries is 3,159. There have been 56 deaths.

A total of 20,455 people, or 51.0 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Tuesday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 19,028.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 7.41 percent.

n Livingston County — As of Tuesday Livingston County had 105 active cases, according to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard.

A total of 5,755 cases had been reported since the pandemic began, along with 5,597 recoveries. There have been 63 deaths.

A total of 36,000 people, or 56.9 percent of county residents, had received at least one vaccine dose as of Monday, according to the New York state vaccine dashboard. The number of people who have completed the series was 33,924.

A total of 65 percent of the county’s population of those at least 18 years old had been vaccinated.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positives was 4.6 percent.
