COVID numbers remain low across region

BATAVIA — The seven-day rolling average of positive COVID-19 cases is continuing to decrease in the Finger Lakes Region.

The average was 2.2 percent as of Wednesday evening, compared to 2.5 percent on Friday.

Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties have stopped giving daily press updates involving COVID-19 numbers, citing the lower numbers of new and active cases.

Here’s a county-by-county look at the available data:

n Genesee County — New York State data indicated Wednesday that 26,212 or 45.6 percent of Genesee County residents have received at least one vaccine dose. A total of 22,845 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 1.2 percent, according to the state department of health.

A total of 585 people were tested Wednesday, according to the state data tracker. Six tested positive.

n Orleans County — In Orleans County on Wednesday, 16,571 residents, or 40.8 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 14,111 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 1.9 percent, according to state data.

A total of 233 people were tested Wednesday, according to the state data tracker. Seven tested positive.

n Wyoming County — In Wyoming County on Wednesday, 16,774 residents, or 41.8 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 14,593 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

The county’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 2.5 percent, according to state data.

A total of 258 people were tested Wednesday, according to the state data tracker. Four tested positive.

n Livingston County — The Livingston County Department of Health reported three new, confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, increasing its overall total to 4,666.

Livingston County also recorded 10 new recoveries, bringing its total to 4,560.

In Livingston County, 29,343 residents, or 46.4 percent of county residents, have received at least one vaccine dose; 25,490 residents have completed the vaccine series, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine tracker.

There are 61 active cases among Livingston County residents, according to the county’s COVID-19 tracking map, a decrease of seven from Tuesday.

Of the current active cases, two are hospitalized, representing no change from Tuesday, according to county health data. One person is listed in intensive care.

Active cases include 19 in Dansville (down three); seven each in Mount Morris (up one) and Nunda; six in Geneseo (down two); four each in Avon (down one) and Livonia (up two); three in Caledonia (down one); two each in Conesus (down one), Lakeville, Leicester, and Lima (down one); and single cases in Dalton, Piffard, and a Wayland zip code in Livingston County (down one). The county is reporting 45 COVID-19-related deaths. New York State reports 59 such deaths in Livingston County.

Livingston County has administered 138,068 tests for COVID-19 among county residents. The results include 133,402 negative results, according to the county’s COVID-19 tracking map. The infection rate among those tested is 3.38 percent.
