A Buffalo woman was arrested on a warrant charging her with abusing a patient at a nursing home, city police said.
Laytefa A. Franklin, 31, was arrested by Amherst Police Department and turned over to Batavia.
Franklin is charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent person and criminal obstruction of breathing.
According to police documents, Franklin put a wet washcloth over the face of a 72-year-old patient at Premier Genesee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Bank Street, Sgt. Marc Lawrence said. He said Franklin had the washcloth over the victim’s face for five to 10 seconds.
The incident happened on Jan. 4.
Franklin was a certified nurse’s aide and has since been fired.
She was arraigned in City Court and released under supervision of Genesee Justice.
