Bonnie Sue (Crawford) Stratton

Stratton

Bonnie Sue (Crawford) Stratton, formerly of Corfu N.Y., peacefully joined her late husband, Richard F. Stratton (1937-2018), on their eternal journey Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021. Her 81 years on this earth brought love, light, and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was born the second of twins to Clarence and Lucille Crawford on Nov. 26, 1939, in Bridgeport, West Virginia; she would recount her birth by saying she had to push her older twin sister, Betty Lou, out of her way. She graduated from Corfu High School, Corfu, N.Y. and married her High School sweetheart in June 1958. In 1964 and again in 1966 Bonnie Sue and Richard adopted their children who couldn’t have asked for a better set of parents. She excelled at motherhood, and everything else she did.

A pillar of strength, in the 1980’s Bonnie Sue was diagnosed with Aggressive Fibromatosis and although it was a difficult fight, she survived and thrived, living a long, memory filled life. Her answer to, “How are you doing?”, was always “HANGIN IN THERE” and her positivity was infectious. This period of her life led to her decision to go to medical school. Not as a student however. She selflessly bequeathed her body to UNC School of Medicine so that more can be learned about the effects on the body from Fibromatosis, and the incredible skill required in facial and dental reconstruction.

Throughout life there was nothing more important to Bonnie Sue than family. She enjoyed every minute she had with her children, grandchildren, and great grand children. Many memories were made and cherished.

Bonnie Sue is survived by her Daughter Lucille Magid and Daniel Magid of Raeford, N.C., Son Michael Stratton and Deanna Stratton of Reading Pa., Granddaughter Bonnie Lucille Unger and Theodore Unger of Erie, Pa., Grandson Matthew Magid and Tabitha Magid of Raeford, N.C., Granddaughter Corey Magid and Jeramy Cosner of Raeford, N.C., Granddaughter Mikayla Greenlund and Joseph Greenlund of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., Grandson Samuel Stratton and Nadya Cesar of Boyertown, Pa., and Granddaughters Mary, Maggie, Molly, Martha, and Monica Stratton of Reading, Pa., Brother Denzil Crawford, of Corfu, N.Y., five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, many friends she thought of as family, and anyone who’s path crossed with hers.
