ELBA — Frank Zielinski of Elba passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia following a brief illness. Mr. Zielinski was born in Elba, N.Y., a son of the late Stanley and Josephine (Swigula) Zielinski.

Frank retired from the United States Gypsum Co. in Oakfield, N.Y., as the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor. From there, he drove school bus at Elba Central School. Frank was an athlete, excelling in multiple sports in his youth, later coaching multiple teams including company softball and elementary basketball. He was always smiling and ready with a joke; he loved to make people laugh.

Frank is survived by his wife, Jane A. (Cole) Zielinski of Elba; a son, David (Pamela) Zielinski of Amsterdam, N.Y.; a daughter, Terry (Charles) Hirsch of Elba; grandchildren, Jeremy, Christopher, and Bethany Zielinski, Dillon, Dakota, and Dixie Hirsch; a great-grandchild, Cohen Olson; a brother, Bruno (Dorothy) Zielinski of Batavia; sisters, Jennie (late Bill) Seager of Albion, and Helen (late Clarence) Klinkbeil of Le Roy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by six siblings.

There will be no visitation. A private family service was held at the Elba United Methodist Church with Pastor Eric McHugh officiating. Burial will be in Daws Corners Cemetery in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elba Fire Department, PO Box 55, Elba, NY 14058 or the Elba United Methodist Church, 8 Chapel Street, PO Box 56, Elba, NY 14058.
