Gene Willard Sellick, DVM, 81, passed away at his residence on Monday, July 13, 2020. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., he was the son of the late Willard and Rachel (Colliton) Sellick. He will be missed by his wife, Burnace Fisher, and former wife, Sandy Priest. Gene will also be missed by his three sons, Ken (Kim) Sellick, Karl (Christine) Sellick, and Keith (late Lynn) Sellick; 4 grandchildren, Abra (Paul Milsap), Zoe, Andrew and Rita (fiancé Dustan Weidman); 1 great-grandchild, Simone Milsap; and three siblings, Ralene (late Rudy) Daugherty, Lawrence (Sherry) Sellick, and Robert (Linda) Sellick.
Gene was a graduate of Cornell University — NYS College of Agriculture and NYS College of Veterinary Medicine in 1963. Throughout his life, Gene led a distinguished career in the veterinary field. While living in New York, he worked for the Rushford Veterinary Clinic and Warsaw Veterinary Clinic. He later became a partner in the Spink Veterinary Associates P.C., of Attica. In 1979, “Doc” worked as a Field Veterinarian for Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1985, he accepted a position as a Technical Consultant for ContiGroup Companies, Inc., Wayne Feeds and Hubbard Feeds, Inc. Gene retired from the USDA, Philadelphia District Office in 2012 as a Meat Inspector. He was a life member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He was also a former President of the Attica Lyons Club, an avid Sprint Car racing fan and enjoyed fishing in Canada.
Gene was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lynn Sellick; a sister, Audrey Sellick; and in-laws, Leo and Eleanor Cox.
Following Gene’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gene’s memory can be made to Hospice and Community Care 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604.
