Hazel A. Stone, a lifelong resident of Varysburg, was called home to be with the Lord surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren, after a year and half long battle with cancer on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022.

Hazel was born in Attica on June 6, 1942 to Paul and Juanita (Gracey) Price. She was one of five siblings, Helen Shaw, Rose Chester, Robert Price, Anita Swecker and Charles Price predeceased.

Hazel attended Attica High School and on Feb. 3, 1961, at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Varysburg, married the love of her life, Lynn A. Stone. They celebrated 60 years of marriage and were blessed with four daughters, Susan (Carl) Parmerter, Carin (Brian) Krawczyk, Kathy (Jon) Hunt and Julie (Steven) Spink.

Hazel loved and adored her 16 grandchildren, Courtney (Justin) Staerr, Carissa Parmerter, Peter, Evan and Lucas Krawczyk, Emma, Gregory and Connor Hare, Katelynn and Carlee Hunt, Boden, Colton, Daxon, Emerson, Fiona and Gwendolyn Spink.

Hazel loved hosting for the holidays, her flower beds and vegetable gardens, Tuesday night bingo at the Warsaw Moose Club, trips to Vegas and an occasional trip to area casinos and garage/estate sales with Stoney.

Hazel previously worked at Laird Brothers Cleaners in Varysburg and drove bus for over 35 years for William G. Becker & Sons, Inc., safely transporting hundreds of students living on Rt. 98 in the Attica Central School District.

As per Hazel’s request, her immediate family will be celebrating her life privately. Hazel graciously donated her body to the University of Buffalo’s Anatomical Gift Program.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Varysburg Fire Department, 2446 Rt. 20A, Varysburg, NY 14167 and Charlotte House Comfort Care Home 4316 Rt. 98, North Java, NY 14113.
