ROCHESTER — Joan A. Meyer, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, William and Geraldine Meyer of Castile; sister, Marilyn Rosenthal of Denver, Colo., and two nieces. She is survived by two sisters, Rosemary Meyer of Spencerport and Judith (Charles) Barcellona of Boca Raton, Fla.; three brothers, William of Portageville, Daniel of Denver, Colo., and Nicholas of Washington, D.C.; eight nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and four great-nephews.
Joan lived all of her life in Wyoming, Cattaraugus, and Monroe counties. She will be remembered for her abiding faith in God, intense love of animals (particularly dogs), refined cooking and baking skills, creative and personal writing, simple and sustainable lifestyle, and concern for those less fortunate. Joan’s life was a testament in perseverance through various forms of adversity.
A memorial service and mass is planned on Sept. 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 23 Church Street in Silver Springs. Interment of ashes will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
