Norma Lang

On April 27th, 2022 Norma Lang entered eternal glory. Born April 7th, 1924, Norma was the youngest child of Richard and Louise (Fischer) Siebert.

As a child, Norma studied the piano becoming an accomplished pianist, teaching many students the joy of music. For over 50 years, Norma served as the church organist for the East Pembroke Cornerstone church. Norma graduated from East Pembroke High School as valedictorian and the Rochester Business Institute with a certificate in secretarial science. Norma went on to a career at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Batavia, interrupted only as she married and raised her family.

A lifelong learner, Norma began studies with the “Children’s Writing Institute” in her 80’s. At the age of 88, her historical novel, “The Blue Dress”, was published. Norma enjoyed history and was active in the Pembroke Historical Society. A consummate genealogist, Norma researched, wrote and published “Pedals from the Past”, a genealogy of the Siebert family.

Norma loved her family, every one of them! She not only cared for her husband and children, but also for her sisters as their needs increased as they aged. She thought of everyone before she cared for herself.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew L. Lang; father and mother, Richard and Louise (Fischer) Siebert. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin (Ivy) Siebert and Elmer (Clarissa) Siebert. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred (George) Lutz, Lillian (Robert) Zeis, Clara (Emmett) Drilling, and Elsie (Charles) Barrett.

Norma is survived by her sons, William (Ruth) Lang and Russell (Kris) Lang; grandchildren, Matthew (Ashlee) Lang, Andrew (Monica) Lang, Rebecca (fiancée Ryan VanGundy) Lang and David Lang; her precious great-grandchildren, Annalise, Ezra, Holden and Winston Lang. She also has many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom she held dear.
