Robert “Bob” LeRoy Birch passed away on May 25, 2021 at Leroy Village Green Residential Health Care Facility at the age of 83. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, in San Francisco, Calif., the son of LeRoy and Catherine Birch.
He is the husband of Clarissa Sylvia (Dobbs) Birch of Elba. They were married on June 29, 1963.
Also surviving are his son, Paul, and daughter-in-law, Amanda (Myers) Birch; his sister, Esther Dickson and her husband, Kent; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Poole, Alrene Degerman, Lucille Dobbs, and LaVonne Nilsen; brothers-in-law, Elmer Dobbs, Marvin Dobbs, and Stanley Singer; and many nieces and nephews.
He and his wife worshipped with the Northgate Free Methodist Church family in Batavia for over 40 years, actively participating in children’s ministries and adult Bible fellowship.
Bob’s interests included classical music, including opera, and reading scripture. He participated in choral and solo vocal musical performance from elementary school through most of his adult life.
He was an employee of the Zenith Radio Corporation in Chicago prior to moving to Western New York, where he worked at GTE Sylvania and later for Eastman Kodak until his retirement.
He was a graduate of the Oakland Technical High School in California and the Trinity Bible College of Chicago.
He has willed his body to the University at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program.
Northgate Free Methodist Church in Batavia will host a memorial service on Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m. A visitation hour beginning at 1 p.m. will precede the memorial service.
