The deadline is Oct. 27 for letters to the editor regarding the general election to be published in print editions of The Daily News.

New letters will be published in print until Oct. 28, with responses to letters published in print until the Oct. 30 edition.

New election-related letters received after Oct. 27 will be published exclusively online at

The general election is Nov. 2.

Election letters will be published online up until the election. By publishing letters online, candidates or their supporters may choose to respond directly in the comments section of each letter.

Writers are encouraged to follow a limit of no more than 400 words. Shorter letters allow us to publish more letters and publish them sooner. Writers are limited to one letter per month.

All letters must include your name, hometown and daytime telephone number. Names of letter writers are always printed, except under extraordinary circumstances.
