Provided Alfred State freshman Nicole Hume won both the discus and hammer throw at the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships on Sunday.

ALFRED — Nicole Hume, a 2021 Alexander graduate, recently finished up her freshman season for the Alfred State women’s track and field program.

Hume competed in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

She enjoyed tremendous success in both including helping her team to a strong second place finish at the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships on Sunday.

Hume won two events and finished third in another.

She captured first place in both the discus and hammer and placed third in the shot put for the Lady Pioneers.

She posted PR’s throughout the season in the shot put (10.30m (33-9 1/2)., discus (33.57m (110- 1 1/2) and hammer throw (42.47m (139-4).

She currently ranks third on the Alfred State All-Time Performances in the hammer throw.

During the indoor season, Hume put up PR’s in the shot put (32-5 3/4) and weight throw (34-9).

Impressively, Alfred State coaches have already named her as a team captain for next year.

Hume, who has a 3.92 GPA, majors in Machine Tool Technology and next year will be the student ambassador for the school’s machining Program.
