PEMBROKE — Pembroke was in major need of a win when Roy-Hart/Barker/Lyndonville came to town on Thursday night. Coming off a disappointing loss to Red Jacket last week, the Dragons needed a big victory to wash the taste of a lopsided loss from the week before out of their mouths.
Behind over 200 total yards and four total touchdowns from senior quarterback Garrett Totten, Pembroke moved past the visiting Silverbacks, 56-12, to improve to 3-1 on the season.
“Our offense executed well today,” said Pembroke head coach Jamie Johnson. “The line was able to get on their blocks and open up some nice holes for our backs.”
Totten’s big night consisted of 12 carries for 152 yards and two scores to go with 11 completions for 60 yards and another two scores. The Dragons’ senior also added a couple of tackles and an interception on defense.
The Dragons began the game red-hot and got out to a 22-0 lead after the first quarter. By the time the halftime horn sounded, it was 36-6 in favor of the Dragons. Pembroke outscored R-H/B/L 14-6 in the second half to seal the deal.
Junior quarterback Dakota von Kramer had a nice game, carrying the ball six times for 42 yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Brady Kimmel added 13 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown, while freshman running back Tyson Totten carried it 11 times for 134 yards and two scores. He added four receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown and sophomore tight end Chase Guzdek made four catches for 30 yards and a touchdown.
The Dragons’ defense equaled the performance of the offense and came through with a solid effort, led by senior defensive end Aaron Birkby who made nine tackles and a sack in the blowout win. Senior defensive back Keith Neureuter made eight tackles for Pembroke, while Tyson Totten made six tackles from his defensive back position. Guzdek recorded five tackles and recorded an interception.
Pembroke looks ahead to a matchup with Holley on Wednesday. Roy-Hart/Barker/Lyndonville is 0-4. Stats were not submitted for the Silverbacks.
