MIDDLEPORT — Perry got back on the winning track with a shutout victory, 48-0, over host Lyndonville-Barker/Roy-Hart on Friday.
The Yellowjackets led 30-0 at the half and scored another 18 points in the third quarter to put the game away.
“Our defense put the work in this week,” said Perry head coach Corey Hollister. “We forced four turnovers and played a great game.”
Leading the way for the ‘Jackets defense was senior defensive back Riley Kowasz, who finished with just two tackles but also came away with an interception return for a touchdown. Kowasz added two receptions for 76 receiving yards and a touchdown on offense.
Senior quarterback Justice Fanaro also had a big game, finishing 6 of 11 passing with two passing touchdowns, while adding two carries for 13 rushing yards and a rushing score. Senior running back Kellen Bell carried the ball five times for 76 rushing yards, including two rushing TDsm while senior wide receiver Cam Petrie carried the ball twice for 57 yards and a score. Petrie added two catches for 55 yards and sophomore WR Braeden Wolfanger added a 35-yard touchdown reception.
Perry senior linebacker Lucas Sears came away with six tackles, two of which for a loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.
The Yellowjacets are now 2-1 and look ahead to a matchup with Holley next week.
Lyndonville/Barker/Roy-Hart is now 0-3. No stats were submitted for L/B/R-H.
